This is a typical timeline for a patient undergoing hip replacement surgery.  Click on the links below to find out detail about each part of the process:




Pain -

Pre-Op assessment -
this is a clinic that is held in the hospital prior to any hip surgery, more

Consent -
before your hip operation you will be asked to sign a consent form, more

Day after hip operation -
after your hip operation you will be visited by a physio, more
Rest of Hospital -
your physio will guide you through key techniques to help with your rehabilitation, more


Home
- Clips are usually removed around 10 days after and you may be able to come off crutches.

6 weeks - Often you will have an appointment to check that your wound has healed. You should be able to drive, have sex (as you feel able) and should not need the raised toilet seat.

3 months - Most patients are able to return to normal activities


6 months
- You may be asked to return to hospital for a follow up.
